Cast Iron Smoker Pizza

Dough Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups warm water

  • 2 tsp yeast

  • 4 cups flour

  • 1/3 cup oil

  • 1 tsp salt

 

Dough Notes

  • Makes 2 thick crust pizzas

  • Or 3 thin crust pizzas

 

Toppings

  • Pizza sauce

  • Pre-cooked ground hamburger

  • Mushrooms

  • Onions

  • Peppers

  • Shredded cheese

  • Fresh tomatoes, added after baking

 

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Add the dough ingredients to the bread machine and run the dough cycle.

  2. While the dough is mixing or rising, pre-cook the ground hamburger and prepare the toppings.

  3. Preheat the smoker to 425°F-450°F.

  4. Place the cast iron pan in the smoker while it preheats so the pan gets hot.

  5. Once the dough is ready, carefully remove the hot cast iron pan and lightly oil it if needed.

  6. Press the dough into the hot cast iron pan.

  7. Add pizza sauce, cooked hamburger, mushrooms, onions, peppers, and cheese.

  8. Return the cast iron pan to the smoker and cook for approximately 20-25 minutes, or until:

·      the crust is golden,

·      the bottom is crisp

·      and the cheese is melted and bubbling.

9.    Remove from the smoker and top with fresh tomatoes before serving.

10.  Let cool slightly, slice, and enjoy.
