Stovetop Carne Asada Street Style Tacos

Marinade & Meat

·      2 lbs flank steak or skirt steak, chopped into small square pieces

·      1 tbsp butter

·      Onion and garlic, to taste

·      1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped

·      1 tsp chili powder

·      1 tsp ground cumin

·      1 tsp smoked paprika

·      1 tsp salt

·      1/2 tsp black pepper

 

Additional Ingredients

·      12 small corn tortillas

·      1/2 cup diced white onion

·      1/2 cup chopped cilantro

·      Lime wedges, for serving

·      Salsa or hot sauce (optional)

·      Guacamole, for serving

 

INSTRUCTIONS


Prepare the Meat

  • Chop the steak into small square pieces.

  • In a bowl, season the steak with chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, salt, pepper, cilantro, onion, and garlic.

  • Let marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.

 

Cook the Carne Asada

  • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and melt the butter.

  • Add the marinated steak and cook for about 4-5 minutes per side until nicely browned and cooked through.

  • Remove from heat and let rest briefly.

 

Warm the Tortillas

  • Heat tortillas in a skillet until soft and lightly charred if desired.

 

Assemble the Tacos

  • Fill tortillas with the cooked carne asada.

  • Top with diced onion, cilantro, lime juice, salsa or hot sauce if desired, and serve with guacamole on the side.
